Winter 2012
As the Holiday Season comes upon us, EAZTS is busy with several projects. We have received several orders for maintenance platforms on several Process Lines. We are assisting one customer with redesigning the cooling blowers for Tension Reel Motors to make filter replacement easier. We received an order to develop new drawings and revise existing drawings for a process line belt wrapper. Last, we have received several orders for analytical engineering services to verify the capabilities of various structures and equipment including pivot type centering guides on a reversing roughing mill.
Summer 2012
During the Summer of 2012, EAZ Technical solutions was involved in several project at various customers. Projects included modifications to downcoiler mandrels, modification to improve the reliability of Pickle Line Tension Reels, redesign of a Segment Manipulator Lift Beam, Design of a Hole Detector Support Structure on a Continuous Anneal Line, modifications to Downcoiler Pinch Rolls, and various engineering analysis studies. Also, EAZTS participated in the installation of a new RGS Mill Products Descale Hood on a 4 High Roughing Mill at an 84” Hot Strip Mill.

EAZ Technical Solutions Receives Order for Vertical Ladle Preheater Engineering
EAZ Technical Solutions recently received an order from V.J. Mattson Co. to provide engineering services related to the design of a new Vertical Ladle Preheater for a local steelmaking shop. EAZTS will provide analytical engineering services to model the preheater and verify the structural integrity of the design as well as General Arrangement drawings of the equipment. The new preheater is scheduled for a May 2011 installation.
EAZ Technical Solutions Receives Order for Design Engineering for New Descale Hoods
EAZ Technical Solutions recently received an order from RGS Mill Products to provide design engineering services for three (3) new descale hoods on roughing mills on a Generation II 84" Hot Strip Mill at a major North American Steel Mill. The project consists of developing arrangement and sectional view drawings of new descale hoods on the entry side of three roughing mill stands. This is a continuation of EAZTS's collaboration with RGS Mill Products on the application of their Patented Descale Hood System at Hot Strip Mills throughout the United States.

EAZTS Receives order for HSM Downcoiler Mandrel Upgrade
EAZ Technical Solutions recently received an order to provide engineering services to upgrade an existing double expand hot strip mill mandrel at a major North American Hot Strip Mill. Engineering will consist of addition of explosion rings on the mandrel, revisions to existing parts to accommodate the explosion rings, and new arrangements to verify the expanded positions.
EAZTS Completes RGS Mill Products Descale Hood Arrangements
EAZ Technical Solutions recently completed arrangement drawing and engineering for a new RGS Mill Products Descale Hood for the R1 Roughing Mill at the 84” Hot Strip Mill at ArcelorMittal Indiana Harbor – West. The project consisted of installing the RGS Mill Products patented descale containment system on the R1 entry table at the mill.

Descale Hood System Installed
A new RGS Mill Products Descale Hood Containment System was recently installed on the R6 Roughing Mill at the ArcelorMittal Cleveland 84” Hot Strip Mill. EAZ Technical Solutions provided complete design, detail, and installation engineering for the design of RGS Mill Products Patented descale containment system. Working with RGS Mill Products and AcrelorMittal personnel, the 37 drawing project took into account the severe hot strip mill duty and future equipment that may be installed. The successful installation of this equipment represents the second complete RGS Mill Products Descale Containment System that EAZ Technical Solutions has provided complete design engineering services for. In each case, the manufacture and installation has been completed without major incidence.
